Dumb and Dead Criminals making news

Crime doesn’t pay—especially when you can’t read. A man in Chicago spent seven minutes disabling a lock on a local bars door, then kept trying to pull the door open even though a sticker on it said “PUSH.” Now that’s a dumb criminal, because even if he couldn’t read or didn’t notice the sticker, you’d think he’d try pushing at some point, no?

1GThe dumb crook was concealed by a temporary cover that was in front of the bar for cold weather. Even people jogging by didn’t notice the brilliant work in progress.

But video surveillance picked everything up. He even got as far as removing the door stopper. Unfortunately, something stopped his brain from working at that point and he didn’t think to push the door open. There was damage done to the door, and apparently, the would-be burglar is still at large.

Sometimes, the stupidity of criminals can be fatal, not just funny as in the case above. In San Francisco, a 16-year-old robbery suspect was killed accidentally by his accomplice’s ricocheting bullet. Now don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing about a 16 year old dying that makes me happy. But here we have two 16 year olds who would shoot someone to death for an iPhone. Somehow the world seems less violent for the moment.

The teen and other thugs had surrounded a victim at night, demanding his cellphone. One of the hoods pulled out a gun, while the others ransacked the victim’s belongings. Nevertheless, the kid with the gun fired a shot at him anyways. Incredibly, the bullet bounced off the victim’s face and struck one of the other muggers, killing him onsite.

The tough guys immediately fled, leaving behind the wounded mugging victim and dying thug.

Fortunately, the suspected shooter, also 16, has been arrested.

This story sounds like good karma, but it would have been sweeter had the deflected bullet struck the shooter, don’t you think?

Dumb Home Invaders Busted Using Victims Mobile

Here is why home security systems are absolutely essential. A homeowner in South Carolina is sleeping when he hears a loud banging noise. He gets out of bed to investigate and comes face to face with a man in his home wearing a ski mask. Question: Do they have snow in South Carolina? Do they ski?

Anyway, the home invader drops the man to his knees and sticks a gun in his ear. Then the victim’s girlfriend get a gun stuck in her ear as they both stayed on their knees at gun point while the home invaders ransacked the house.

The home invaders stole their mobile phones, and their games including Wii, Nintendo, Xbox, two pistols and three shotguns along with cash and jewelry.

Based on the score I bet the victims knew the home invaders. Luckily for the victims the home invaders left without any additional violence.

The home invaders used one of the victims’ cell phones later on that day. What the dumb criminal probably didn’t realize is mobile phones have GPS and location based data that can allow anyone including the police to trace the phone location pretty accurately.

Police staked out the location which was a motel and saw two men who fit the home invaders description then searched their room and found the victims stuff.

Technology is great. It helped catch these criminals, and this wasn’t the first time a cellphone has help police carch a criminal, in Maryland another dumb criminal was caught after leaving behind charging phone.

However technology in the form of a home alarm could be used better to proactively prevent this. While the victim isn’t responsible for getting invaded, they are in the best position to prevent it.

Dumb Intruder Calls Cops On Homeowner

If I ever strived to be a dumb criminal I’d want to be Timothy James Chapek, 24 years old from Portland, Ore. This cat breaks into a home and jumps in the shower when the woman who lived there came home.

The kid locked the bathroom door and called 911. From the 911 call: “I just broke into a house and the owners came home…I think they have guns,” he told the 911 operator.

At the same time the homeowner confronted him and asked why he was in the house taking a shower and he says “I broke in. I was kidnapped.”

When the homeowner yelled at him telling him she was calling the cops he said “I’ve already called them. They’re on the phone right now.”

OMG!

How about not letting this happen in the first place?

Install signage. “Beware of Dog” and “This House is Alarmed” neon signs for $1.98. One for the front door and one for the back door.

Go to the pet store. Get 2 big dog bowls, one for the front porch and one for the back. Write “Killer” in permanent marker on it. This gives the impression you have a big dog. You can even buy a barking dog alarm.

Lock your doors and windows. Install a monitored alarm system. Consider ADT Pulse that comes with a battery backup even when the poser goes out.

Give your home that lived in look. Leave the TV on LOUD while you are gone.

Install timers on your lights both indoor and outdoor. Close the shades to prevent peeping inside.

Dumb Criminal Tries To Guess PIN 50 Times

What do you do when you are picked up in a cab and the driver suspects your home will be vacant while you are gone?

The Manchester Evening News reports “A BUNGLING burglar went to the same ATM more than 50 times – to try and guess the PIN numbers of bank cards he had stolen. He thought he might strike it lucky if he kept on putting in random sets of four numbers into the ATM machine. But, with the odds of correctly guessing a card’s PIN number ranked at one in 10,000, and he never managed to make a single withdrawal.”

Police believe the dumb criminal may have used his job as a taxi driver to pick out homes where he had picked people up and he would then return to at night and break into. He pleaded guilty to eight counts of burglary and was jailed for three years four months.

Whenever I’m picked up in a cab from my home I always get on the phone and fake or make a real call and say “Bill, can you make sure when I’m gone that the Dog stays in the house? He got out again and bit someone bad, there was blood everywhere, and please set the home alarm, and I’ll only be gone a short time this is just a shuttle”.

This puts enough doubt in the mind of the cabbie to choose my home as his next target.
